General Dynamics Battlefield Sensor Meshes
The British Army seeks to improve soldier’s awareness of the situation around them in environments where data is sparse, unreliable and cluttered. General Dynamics tasked Unusual Systems staff to lead research into possible solutions
We evaluated cutting edge sensors; designed and developed federated tactical sensor meshes in dynamic, hostile and power-limited environments using both bespoke UDP/TCP protocols and DDS; developed data algorithms; integrated C4I tactical networks with operational networks; trained engineers and engaged with academics by setting MSc and PhD challenges and mentoring students.
Research outcomes directed the MoD’s C4ISTAR acquisition programmes
